Post 5: A moment spent alone doing something I enjoy.

I play many kinds of territorial/invasion sports like basketball and soccer. Though I enjoy these sports, I admit that I am not very good in them. I normally play defense or keeper in soccer as my reaction, accuracy and power is not good enough for a striking position. However there is a sport I enjoy which does not involve striking or defending, which is a individual sport that I love, pool or occasionally called billiards.
Pool is the game where u have a cue and you hit the balls into the pockets with another ball. Everyone knows that. Pool is a sport where there is no attack or defence, in turn, people can't all snatch for a position, making them seem selfish. In pool, everyone and everything is equal.
I first learnt how to play pool when I was 7 at a restaurant with a pool table there for recreation. When I first tried the sport, I felt the exhilaration when I first pocketed my first ball. Ever since then, I fell in love with the sport. My pool skills improve over time when I go overseas to Bintan or some other resort which have recreation rooms where there are pool tables. I would frequent the pool tables during the holidays as I practically loved the sport. However there was a period of time where I stopped playing pool for quite some time as I could not find resorts with pool tables when I went overseas, therefore my skills have rusted.
Actually, I personally think that pool can help me in my studies, more specifically in physics as I have to calculate the angle where i have to hit the ball for it to slice the ball in order to go in. Pool is a very special sport as it it involves the mind too.
There are times when I go alone to pool parlours to play pool for fun. It is a form of relaxation for me as the place is very peaceful but I am often advised not to go by my parents as they think it is a very '
messy' place, full of gangsters and sort. I guess they will never understand why I love pool.
Post 4: Something unusual that happened today.

Today was the freakiest day of my life! When I was walking home, I suddenly heard a loud thump on the floor and when I went to take a look, I saw a cat's corpse in the drain. Scared out of my wits, I faster entered the lift and tried to regulate my breathing as my heart was beating rapidly. I remember seeing a familar collar on the cat which had fell into the drain from a height and I realised that was my neighbour's cat!
I saw my neighbour feeding her new cats that she found at Katong and then i asked her in chinese: "When did your first cat die?" She told me that someone had thrown it down from the 9th storey at night but she did not know who. When I told her that I just saw her dead cat in the drain, she told me it was impossible as that had happened months ago. I brought her down to the drain where I had seen the cat and the cat DISAPPEARED!
My neighbour told me I was imagining things and told me to get more rest, then she went back to her house. Freaking out, I took the lift up home and locked the door. I took a few joss sticks, lighted them and prayed vehemently. I was sure I had seen the cat just now,am I imagining things because I'm too tired from all the excessive homework? Or am I...

Post 3: A problem we encountered and how we solved or mangaged it.

Today was such a close encounter! The day was going fine until OPW period (Online Project Work) I did not know we had to bring the thumbdrive with the templates in it until my Form Teacher reminded us before OPW period. I thought: "Uh oh... I did not bring the thumbdrive...".
When I told my friend about it, he was shocked and kept asking how should we mangage this problem. I told him that I could try to get a copy of the template from other groups, but the problem was that I did not have a thumbdrive! Luckily, after asking around, my group member had brought his thumbdrive in his pencilbox so we could get the template and save it in the thumbdrive.
During OPW period, I, being the group leader, went around asking for templates from other groups. Most of the computers the school provided were hanging so it was quite hard to get a template from them as the computer was hanging. After 1 period of running around the Professional Room 2, I finally got a copy of the templates and started on our project as quickly as possible.
After brainstorming, we finally came up with a complete project for stage 2 of the OPW. The real problem then came. When we asked the teacher to view our project, she asked us: "Then what about the template 1?" We had completed only template 2 but not 1 and to make matters worse, we did not have the template as the other group did not pass it to us. Adding on to our burdens, the computer was only charged for an hour and the battery life was running low so we had no time to type the template 1. My friend Parry, suddenly thought of an idea to hand in the OPW by today.
He suggested that I take back the project home and finish it up then email it to the Form Teacher. Our form teacher then gave us her email address and told us the send it back to her. Thanks to Parry's quick thinking, we were saved and the problem was solved! Great thinking Parry! Somehow i felt we were really lucky as there was another group that had to redo their OPW TWICE as their computer restarted twice, therefore they had to send the project to the form teacher by mail too.
What a troublesome day!
2nd Post: A special moment i enjoyed with my family.
Today was such a exhilarating day! As today was a holiday for Cristofori, the music school that I go to for piano lessons, my piano lesson was cancelled. To add on to my joy, my chinese tuition teacher could not make it for tuition today as she had church, furthermore, it was my Father's birthday! It was really a lucky day for me as it is quite rare to have both tuitions cancelled at the same time, especially if it is on someone's birthday.
After breakfast, my parents asked my sister and I if we wanted to go out anywhere this afternoon and my sister immediately shouted: ' SHOPPING '. I grumbled at the thought of shopping as it would mean my sister would spend most of the time buying clothes. We set out at 11 and reached Vivo City at 11.45. My sister practically ran the whole Vivo City searching for clothes and sadly we had to follow her. I felt I did not get enough time to shop for my own things.
However, my day got better as a very nice shirt caught my attention. I bought the shirt at a expensive price of $39.90. Somehow i kept thinking it was daylight robbery but the shirt was too nice to refuse. The sky got darker gradually and we settled down for dinner at a posh japanese restaurant for dinner. Normally we would eat at home to save money but today was an exception as it was my Father's birthday. We ended the day by celebrating with a nice fruit cake at the restaurant. It was really a special moment with my family.
Post 1: Something that took place in school.
Saturday, January 23, 2010
Thrilled, I made my way to school by bus. Why was I so thrilled? Mainly because I was about to meet my new batch of juniors! I pondered over how my juniors would be like, their personalities and sort. Upon reaching school, I made my way slowly up to the band room, located on the 3rd floor.
When I reached the band room, I saw many pairs of shoes outside the band room and wondered:"Whose shoes could these be?" My eyes then met with Derick Toh, my batch mate in the percussion section. Asking him about the shoes, he tells me that Mr Tan, the conductor, was with the secondary 1 students, teaching them music theory.
Knowing that Mr.Tan was not one who liked to be disturbed, I did not go into the band room and went into the band storeroom instead. Setting up my instrument, I grumbled about my 'new' instrument. My original instrument was one of the better silver trombones, but however, Eugene, my secondary 3 senior kept insisting that he wanted my instrument as it was better than his current one. Therefore my Section Leader, made the switch as Eugene kept pestering him.
After setting up, I took a chair and sat on it, warming up by playing the scale of B
♭ Major. Suddenly, a secondary 3 senior told me to stop playing as it was disturbing the students inside the band room who was learning theory from Mr.Tan. Taking my instrument, I wore my shoes and proceeded to the gallery, where the band plays the National Anthem every Monday and Friday. The others in the band storeroom had to also make their way to the gallery to practice. When I went out, I saw my section mate, Niyaz, and waved to him. We had arranged to meet up so we could 'Inspect' our juniors, but the plan did not go as expected though.
After practicing some scales, Wei Jie, my good friend, caught the corner of my eye and I rushed to him to say hi. We started chatting happily and we practiced together after he had set up his instrument, the Saxophone. Very soon, it was time to fall in for band practice. During fall in, some people had to pump (do push ups) for either not tucking in their shirts, or wearing watches. When they had finished pumping, they reported to get up, however, the Student Conductor who was taking attendance, did not hear them report. I felt that they should have reported louder so they would have been heard and not hold the push up position for a longer time than needed.
We had sectionals after falling out. Though we practiced for a long time, I felt that it was not productive as we did not accomplish much. After sectionals, we went back to the band room for band practice. We went through one song, which was 'Disney's Princess Medley'. It was a hard song and it was only our fourth reading. I did not feel confident when playing the song therefore my tone was quite bad. I feel I should have more confidence in myself. Time passed quickly and soon it was time to pack up. During debriefing, the Student Conductor briefed us on our weaknesses and where we should improve or take note. I reflected deeply on my shortcomings and promised that i would try to work harder and sound better.
This concludes the end of my first post: Something that took place in school.

My Crappy Day.
Wow today was such a horrible day. Firstly, in school, i forgot to band badge and got pumped 30 for it. Secondly, i screwed up the Victorian Anthem solo so bad my senior gave me a lecture.
And sadly my day got worse by period.
During recess we were stopped by Mr.Sng when we were playing soccer in the field as he had to let his sports class use the field. Therefore, we had to make do with the tiny indoor sports hall. Though it was fun, i felt it was a little too cramped to play soccer. As i was trying new shoes, my new canvas shoes, i tried to play soccer in them and I've learnt to never do it again. I realized that after i played soccer, i had blisters on my toes, which i have never had when i used my sports shoes.
After school i looked at the canteen queues and was astonished. Numerous people and food was running out fast. I was supposed to eat with Joel but the chicken rice stall queue so long i doubted i could eat with him. My doubt was confirmed when i had to re-queue because the rice in the chicken stall ran out! Therefore i had to make-do with malay food, which supply was scarce and so i could only eat rice and a chicken drumstick as they were the only food left in the stall.
That concluded my crappy day.
